Review highlights
Based on 3,306 reviewsHarukoma (Main Store) is widely recognized for its authentic and generously portioned sushi, prepared by experienced chefs using fresh, high-quality seafood. Customers frequently praise the perfectly seasoned rice and highlight popular items such as yellowtail, unagi, tuna belly, scallops, and eel for their exceptional taste. The restaurant’s casual, lively atmosphere along a bustling Osaka street adds to its charm, though seating can be challenging due to its popularity. Small groups tend to be seated more quickly, but longer wait times—especially during peak hours—are common. Despite occasional waits, service is described as efficient, with an order system that keeps the flow steady once seated. While some notes mention higher prices, most reviews agree the quality and experience justify the cost, making Harukoma a favored destination for both locals and tourists seeking a memorable sushi experience in Osaka.
One of the best ever sushi joints in Osaka. Really authentic as the food is prepared by seasoned japanese chef, and the fish slices and thick and generous. The yellowtail, unagi, maguro, tuna belly are must-try items! Order from the menu by writing the order numbers on a chit and hand them to the chef. Best to arrive in small groups for fast seating.
We came as a family, and it was so good that we went back the next day. Simply the best sushi we've had for this price range. The best eel - it was a pure delight! I highly recommend it! Please note that while on the 1st evening we arrived very early (5.45pm) and didn't have to wait, on the 2nd evening, at around 7pm, we had to wait for 1 hour.
One of the best sushi places I have ever been to. Definitely worth the wait. They have really fresh seafood, rice is seasoned perfectly, and they din’t scrimp on the fish! Salmon & tuna are usually fare but go try their scallops and other fish as well shrimp & squid. I really really enjoyed this experience. A very solid 5/5 stars. Highly recommended, will definitely go back when in Osaka! Note: the line is at the back of the alley a few steps away. Once near the entrance, you can pre-order your food so they can immediately serve you your order and you can just order more once you’re seated. Seats are limited and queues are long but definitely worth the wait. :)
This sushi restaurant is truly something special. Located along a bustling shopping and food street, it doesn’t look like a high-end dining spot at first glance—beer crates sit off to the side, and the menu is posted outside so you can choose your order in advance. This system helps keep things efficient, especially since there’s usually a long line to get in. When you order, you’re given a cute animal tag as a placeholder (we got the neko!). And then, once the wooden entrance door opens, everything changes. Inside, the place is full of energy, with both counter seats and tables. The chefs work right in front of you, preparing a wide variety of sushi with skill and care. We tried several kinds and especially recommend the toro nigiri (fatty tuna), uni (sea urchin), and classic maguro—all exceptional in taste and freshness. The cuts of fish were remarkably generous—thick, smooth, and delicately placed on the rice, almost like refined fillets rather than simple slices. Each piece melted in the mouth. Prices are quite reasonable, ranging from 300 to 500 yen per pair of nigiri (plus 10% tax). We tried many and left fully satisfied, spending about 8,500 yen for two people (roughly 4,250 yen each), Sake included! The staff aren’t particularly chatty, but they’re clearly focused on delivering an excellent food experience for every guest. Absolutely worth a visit—a lively atmosphere and top-quality sushi at a fair price
Tourist place for sure but definitely worth the wait (lines are long and it’ll take longer for big parties over 3 people to be seated, so expect at least a 45+ min wait). Fish was fresh and seasoned well, rice was perfect texture & once we got seated the food came pretty quickly and service was fast. Overall very delicious, huge portions but a little pricey. It’s still one of our go-to’s when coming to Osaka
There’s always a line when we pass through. So you know it’s good. We browsed the menu and order while waiting in line. The staff is extremely friendly. The sushi was amazing. Definitely will go back.
So worth the wait!! We waited about 1-hour a before we got seated. You order at the door and your meal is ready within minutes after you’re seated. The sushi was delicious and the best we’ve had so far in Japan! The staff were friendly and easy to communicate with! The Eel sushi special was the best!! Also recommend the sweet egg sushi if you’re wanting something sweet! The prices were reasonable too!
Finally managed to try this as was previously put off by the queues. Minimal queue at 4:30pm on Sunday and I didn’t have to wait as was on my own. Must say it was good quality sushi albeit a quick in and out experience. Not sure I would queue an hour for it, if I did I would take a much more leisurely time, though can’t say the atmosphere encourages that :) you have to write down your order on a piece of paper but they have a numbered English menu All in all I’m glad to have tried it. Around ¥3,500 for the pictured order
